Testimonials

We set out to help children and families spend more time outdoors, connecting with and helping nature on their doorstep. We see the positive effect of being outside in nature on the faces of the people who take part in our events and projects - but it's great when we get written feedback too, as we can share it with others. Here’s a selection of comments and testimonials we’ve received.

Kids and their parents

When we grow older, if we have kids and bring them to this school, they’ll be able to see all the trees [we’ve planted].

James, aged 10

Planting trees makes me feel proud. I planted 20 all by myself!

Hector, aged 8

Kids Plant Trees are making a huge impact on the children lucky enough to attend one of their events. Being able to physically participate helped my son and his friends understand the importance of caring for nature and feel a real pride and connection with what they can achieve. The tree planting event at Bolehills is still the most hotly talked about topic amongst the children, it brought together so many people from the local community and taught even the adults how much fun it can be to make a lasting difference. My son visits his trees every few weeks to check on their progress and can’t wait for the next event.

Helen Beard, parent of Sam, aged 8

The tree mulching was a great opportunity for our family to engage with the people in our community. It also gave us a chance to explain more to our daughter how important trees are and what groups of people can do together. The activity was a good example that we can help the environment while having fun too!

Damian Mucha, parent of Ronia, aged 8

Schools

Kids Plant Trees have been an incredible support to our school and outdoor environment. They have visited multiple times to work with many of our children to plant trees to improve the condition of our school field. On every visit, they have been passionate and enthusiastic about their work, something which our children share too as they look after the young trees that have been planted. Our outdoor environment has also benefitted from their hard work through the enhancement of our forest school clearing to have a new hedgerow planted. Their work has been so valuable and we can't wait to welcome them back again.

Partners

Kids Plant Tree provides a great opportunity for children to get directly involved in the natural world. By planting a tree, often with family and friends, there is the opportunity to develop a really strong connection to nature through 'their' trees - that they have planted, nurtured and watch growing as they also grow. It creates a strong bond with nature that is critical if future generations are to help look after our natural environment and respond to the nature and climate crises. And of course, in itself, planting trees is such a positive action for nature and climate. Kids Plant Trees are often planting in areas with less tree cover, in urban spaces and on boring under-used short-mown grass, so it has lots of benefits both for people and nature.

At Harworth we are pleased to work with a range of organisations to help us deliver engaging community focussed activities. One of these organisations is Kids Plant Trees. It has been a great pleasure to work with the team over the last few months at Coronation Park, part of our Cadley Park development, who have supported the local community to plant and mulch 500 new trees and have created a new Community Orchard comprising of fruit trees and bushes. As a result, the community are helping to transform and regenerate their local environment and are now better equipped with skills and knowledge they need to help look after their green spaces for future generations.

Kids Plant Trees is a brilliant and exceptionally valuable member of our Alliance. Their activities are wide and varied, creative and fun for the children and their families and schools. They are certainly nurturing the next generation of climate activists!

Vanessa Sengar, former Co-Chair, South Yorkshire Climate Alliance

I’ve worked with Kids Plant Trees on a couple of community planting projects over the last six months and having their support has made a big difference in terms of engaging families and children in our tree planting work. They are truly committed to their cause and bring so much enthusiasm and energy to everything they are involved in and are an invaluable partner organisation to the Community Forestry team. We’re looking forward to working with them again on future projects!
