Join our board of directors

Kids Plant Trees is a not-for-profit organisation working to give more children in South Yorkshire and beyond the opportunity to get outdoors and interact with nature, such as by planting a tree - or a few! We're a small organisation with a big mission - to help children and nature thrive together - and we’re growing our board of directors to help us achieve that.

Co-founders Anna Parkin, Steph Mullen and Rachael Smith have built Kids Plant Trees from a tiny voluntary group to a growing social enterprise with tons of potential. We’re now looking to welcome additional non-executive directors to the board, to have a wider pool of knowledge and backgrounds to draw from and strengthen the organisation.

We’d love to hear from people who are passionate about the environment and community, as well as children’s health, wellbeing and development. It’s also important to us that our board shares our collaborative and positive approach to delivering impactful projects. We’re especially keen to hear from individuals from underrepresented groups who reflect the diverse communities we work with.

We’d also particularly welcome interest from individuals with expertise in grant funding, social impact measurement, primary education and ecology.

As a non-executive director, you will be placed on the public register with Companies House as a director of the company. Non-executive directors are volunteers, although out-of-pocket expenses can be paid to ensure members are able to attend in-person meetings and other events.

You’ll be expected to attend a quarterly meeting of up to 90 minutes in duration, with up to 30 minutes preparation for each meeting, as well as our annual general meeting. There may also be the potential to take on some additional responsibilities by engaging in ad hoc working groups around specific projects.

If you want to be part of our organisation at this exciting time, please send us an email letting us know why you would like to be a part of Kids Plant Trees and what you can bring to the role. Email Steph Mullen, Executive Director, at steph@kidsplanttrees.org by Monday 17th June 2024. Directors will be formally appointed at our AGM in July (date tbc).
