Imagine people coming together to grow and plant trees across South Yorkshire.

Why start a community tree nursery?
At Kids Plant Trees, we've spent the last 5 years creating opportunities for children (and their grown ups) to help nature by planting trees and other activities. We've seen the positive effect spending time in nature can have on people of all ages. It brings people joy, calm, wonder, confidence and connection - with the natural world and each other.
We're working to increase tree canopy, especially in areas with low tree cover, and we'd love to do this using trees grown from seeds gathered within in the region. This will reduce the impact of transporting the trees on the environment (fewer miles travelled = fewer greenhouse gas emissions) and ensure the trees we plant have the best chances of thriving (the trees will be better adapted to our local environment, weather etc).
Most of all, we want to create a tree nursery with and for the people of South Yorkshire, including children and young people. With this in mind, we're asking for community feedback on the idea before we get started. If you live or work in South Yorkshire, we’d love your input to show there’s real local support. Take our super-short 2-minute survey by 22nd October. Thank you!

Join our seed gathering challenge
This October, we're asking you to gather seeds from native woodland and hedgerow in your local area, to kick start our community tree nursery project. We've put together a quick guide to seed gathering, with illustrations showing what to look for, where and how to gather tree seeds, and what to do once you've got some.
It's a great way to spend time outside in nature - and you'll get to be part of something mega for South Yorkshire!
